Our Journey Through Time
From humble beginnings to a thriving spiritual community, discover the milestones that shaped our Chaplaincy.
Foundation Stone Laid
Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Godfrey Mary Paul Okoye laid the foundation stone for Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy, acquiring land in Thinker's Corner for preaching the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
First Chaplain Appointed
Very Rev. Msgr. Dr. Anthony Aso became the first Chaplain, celebrating masses for the Daughters of Divine Love (DDL) Congregation and caring for the spiritual welfare of the community.
Temporary Setback
Due to harassment from hoodlums, the Daughters of Divine Love Congregation was forced to leave Thinker's Corner, along with other inhabitants seeking safety.
Institute of Ecumenical Education
Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Stan Ani founded the Institute of Ecumenical Education and helped build the Church known as Omnium Sanctorum (All Saints). Rev. Fr. Dr. Raymond Arazu, CSSp, was appointed as chaplain.
New Leadership
Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Okwulehie was appointed official chaplain by Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Okonkwo Gbuji, taking over on November 1, 1998, celebrating his first mass on the Solemnity of All Saints.
Reorganization and Growth
The Chaplaincy was divided into seven zones with elected Church Council. New societies flourished including Bible Society, Block Rosary Crusade, Mary League, and Legion of Mary.
Parish Status Achieved
His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Dr. Anthony Okonkwo Gbuji, elevated the Chaplaincy to parish status with Rev. Fr. Dr. John Amadi as parish priest.
Return to Chaplaincy
The parish was returned to Chaplaincy status by Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Chukwuma Onaga. Very Rev. Fr. Prof Dr. Christian Anieke was appointed as the first Rector.
Divine Mercy School Opens
With incredible cooperation from the Church Council and Catholic Women Organization, the Chaplaincy built and opened the Divine Mercy Nursery, Primary and Day Care School.
Continued Growth
The Chaplaincy continues to grow tremendously with befitting structures and incredible blessings under the leadership of Very Rev. Fr. Prof Dr. Christian Anieke.
